Most people wonder what permanent eyeliner is, and what is the process to get it done.
Permanent eyeliner is a cosmetic technique using tattooing as a mean of producing lines
around or on the eyelids to give the eyes definition, color, and also give the lashes a
thickening look, and performed in two sessions.
It is ideal for clients with allergies to makeup, or who struggle with seeing to apply eyeliner themselves. The eyes are said to be the window to our souls, and to some the most attractive feature a person may have. Giving the eyes definition will help to give the client a more youthful appearance.
But, what is the process for your eyeliner procedure?
Once a client comes in, that means they did their research, and they chose well informed and wisely the artist to do their procedure. We will discuss the expectations, and here we usually meet in the middle, where we make recommendations according to skin type and face features, but most important, we recommend to keep it as natural as possible.
Then we fill and sign a consent form to have available medical information required before we can even start, and this way avoid any surprises in the middle of a procedure. Its important for your artist to know if there are contradictions that may prevent them from forward with the appointment for your own safety. Details matter, even if you think they're not a big deal.
Before your procedure starts, we draw a perfect and symmetrical sketch of what your eyeliner will look like, this gives you the opportunity to change it before it's too late. Then, numbing cream comes in action to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.
During your first session, we are cautions applying your color without overdoing it, to be sure you like it as it settles in over the first 2 weeks. In our second session we will add more color and improve the shape. Always keep in mind that its better to go from less to more, and that during your touch up, you can add more color and make your line thinker if you wish.
Is it painful? Most clients describe the feeling as a small discomfort, but not as a painful experience, but this of course will depend on your pain tolerance. The entire appointment will take between 1-2 hours depending on the technique you chose. It's important to mention that everything used during your procedure is disposable, every client will have brand new disposable equipment.
Amazing results and positive experiences are common for eyeliner procedures as long as the tattoo artist and client follow the protocol and precautions, it is extremely important the client to understand and to follow the aftercare instructions, and it is even more important that the artist provides all the necessary information to the clients.
For those who got their permanent eyeliner done, the experience was totally worth it, and to be honest, that fulfills the purpose of our work!
